Between 1675 - 1683 my "Blumenbuch", as well as its second volume and my first scientific work "Der Raupen wunderbare Verwandelung und sonderbare Blumennahrung" (The caterpillars wonderful transformation and curious flower food) were published, with which I could make a name for myself. Nowaday (1685) I have separated from my husband and I move with my two daughters to the community of the Labadists in the Dutch Friesland. Here I come into contact with insect collections for the first time. This is the beginning of my preparations for my upcoming trip to Surinam. In accordance with my research on butterflies, there is a Waterman projection, also called "Butterfly Projection", which looks like a butterfly.
